Christmas!!

Well we survived hosting Christmas Day lunch!!  I made my first turkey and hosted 20 people in our home!  YIKES!
Our Christmas celebration started Christmas Eve going to church with Karen, Luke and Kathryn.  We then headed to the Burgess house for Christmas Carols and presents.  It is always so fun hearing our out of tune family belt out carols!!  :)  Our nieces definitely have a great time helping everyone pick out songs.  Afterwards we came home and exchanged our gifts to each other.  This year we decided to do stocking stuffers and Clay out did himself!!  He's always so worried he'll get the wrong thing but he always gets exactly what I want!
Christmas morning started off with me putting my first turkey in the oven.  Let me just tell you...that is not a one person job.  I had to wake Clay up to help me get it in the oven...that sucker was heavy!  20 pounds of bird isn't easy to maneuver!!!  After the bird was settled we went to Karen's for Jesus' birthday cake and presents.  Chocolate chocolate chip ice cream at 8:30am is always fun!  Haha.  At 11:30 Clay's dad came to our house to exchange presents.  Then at 1pm everyone started showing up for lunch.  I think everyone had a great time!  I'm still kicking myself for not taking pictures.  Gggrrrr!!  Hopefully someone took some.  Send them my way if you did!
Don't worry....after that we still had one more stop.  It was off to Sugar's at 6pm.  We had chili dogs and played some Dirty Santa.
This was definitely the best Christmas yet.  We hope to make Christmas at our house a tradition...and maybe one day we can invite more people....we just need a bigger house!

Phew!
Well I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!!
Enjoy the last days of 2008....

Wedding Weekend

We just wrapped up our last wedding of the year! Our friends Shelley and Ryan were married Saturday night. I just love weddings! It's such a wonderful way to bring friends and family together. Speaking of bringing friends together...our favorite guests came to town...Jenny and Scott (and baby Jackson)!!! We all had such a great time spending time together and being with Shelley and Ryan as they became husband and wife!
Can I just tell you....Jenny has the cutest baby bump EVER!! So looks so amazing! AND! I got to feel Jackson kick. It was a little tiny kick. I can't WAIT to meet sweet baby Jackson....YAY!

I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!!

Oh and I'm hosting Christmas Day...so I'm sure there will be a blog to follow that event! EEEK! Wish me luck....

1 year of wedded BLISS!!!

I cannot believe we have already celebrated our 1 year anniversary. This year has gone by so fast and has been the best year EVER!! We have truly enjoyed getting settled into our married life. To celebrate we decided to head up to Colorado Springs! We left Saturday morning and arrived safe and sound that afternoon. I had ordered the top tier of our wedding cake to take with us....traveling with a cake is not easy but if you need any tips I'll fill you in. Anywho...we went to Denver to watch the Big XII game with Luke and Clay's cousin Cody....so fun because our awesome Sooners pulled off a big win!!! Sunday we just hung out in CO Springs and watched the Patriots game. Luke came to town to watch with us. We ended up playing 5 games of darts and somehow Clay dominated every game!! I think he secretly plays darts every day!! So finally it was Monday!! Our first anniversary!! We decided to tour the Olympic training center which was about the coolest thing we've ever done!! Unfortunately there weren't many athletes training the day we went but it was still very neat to see everything.

Our cake!! That made it through the medical detector....PHEW!

The pathway leading through the training facility. There is a flag for every country represented in the Olympics. Pretty cool.

After our tour we decided to head to the Broadmoor for a drink....duh! While we were at the Broadmoor it started to snow like CRAZY!! It was AMAZING!!

CHEERS!!

My favorite picture!!

We had dinner later that night at Walter's Bistro and just relaxed. It was so much fun watching it pour down snow!

The next day we headed to Vail to see the Crotts family. It took us a little longer than expected to get there so we weren't able to ski Tuesday. We went to the slopes on Wednesday and the weather was a little crazy. People were telling us that their goggles were freezing and they couldn't see anything. So we stopped in Starbucks to warm up and then Clay decided to go up and check out the conditions. The weather got better so I went up too. It was fun!! We decided to head back to the Springs after skiing.

Thursday we ended up going back to Denver to have a farewell dinner with Luke and his friends and Clay's cousin Lea. We went to Vesta Dipping Grill....if you ever make it to Denver I highly recommend this restaurant! It's not fondue like one might think but you get to choose dipping sauces for your entrees. So much fun!!
Luke, Clay, me, Lea, JJ, and Trevor
Friday we drove home to OKC. We drove home Hank's Corvette. That was a long 10 hour drive!!!
All in all we had a fabulous anniversary trip!! We got to do a lot and see a lot of Clay's family! I could've stayed in CO for awhile longer....I just love it up there.
PS - I still can't believe it's been a year! WOW!!

Turkey Tackle injury....

Here are some pics of Clay's injury.  I can't believe how bruised his ankle is...I mean it's like half way up his leg and all the way down to his toes.  Blech!!  He swears it doesn't hurt....

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Turkey Day!!  Clay and I had a wonderful first married Thanksgiving!  We had lunch with the Burgess family and followed that up with some social time at the Holmboes.  After relaxing at home for awhile after making the rounds we hung out with Lexi and Kent...always so much fun!
Today was the 7th Annual Turkey Tackle.  A group of Clay's high school/college buddies get together every year for a good old fashioned game of flag football.  It was a great game until Clay got injured right before half time.  His ankle immediately started swelling...ugh...that's going to hurt in the morning!!

Cal and Luke watching their dads - Lee and Dax.

                                                             Run Matt!!

                                                      BLUE 42!  BLUE 42!! GO!

OH!!  And the Christmas tree is already up and decorated!!  WAHOOOO!

Route 66 and Flag Football

This weekend Clay ran his first 12k!!  He was part of a relay team for the Route 66 marathon in Tulsa.  We went to Tulsa Saturday evening and ate dinner at our FAVORITE Asian restaurant, Te Kei's.  YUM!!  The service wasn't too great but the food was quite tasty!!  So I'm really not the type of person to buy lottery tickets but as Clay and I were wrapping up dinner and reading our fortunes....I noticed the "Lucky Numbers" on our fortunes were the EXACT same!!  We had completely different fortunes but the same numbers!  I'm TOTALLY buying lottery tickets this week!  Clay thinks I'm crazy but oh well.
Sunday morning we woke up pretty early so we could eat breakfast and let his food digest a bit.  We checked out of the hotel and headed up to the race.  He got the time chip and off he went!!  He ran in 1 hour and 14 minutes!  He did so well!  I was so proud.
As soon as the race was over we hopped in the car to head home.  We got home just in time for lunch.  As soon as we got into OKC we pulled into Irma's Burgers!  After we finished lunch we had just enough time to go home and change clothes.  Then we hopped back in the car to go to Clay's flag football game!  Jeez!  It was quite the Sunday.  Unfortunately they lost the game but it was a fun season.

Phew...well that made me tired just re-hashing everything!

Have a great week everyone!

Wonderful weekend!!

This weekend our friends Jenny and Scott came into town!  Jenny and I hosted a wedding shower together while the boys played golf.  Our shower for Shelley went wonderfully!  Jenny made the best sandwiches...which we are still snacking on.  Shelley got tons of fun things.  So I think all in all everything went well.  After the shower Jenny and Scott headed back South to Dallas.  Clay and I went to watch some football.  Sunday was also full of lots of football and a Holmboe family dinner to top things off!  We had dinner at Margarita's with Sugar, Nancy, Barney, Cody, Blair, Jens and us.  So much fun!  It's always fun to catch up with family.
Another great weekend under our belts!

Also, this weekend our friends Jenny and Scott are coming to visit.  Jenny and I along with my mom are hosting the shower.  Clay and Scott will be playing golf.

Woo hoo!!  It will be such a fun weekend!!  :)

I can't believe we're coming up on our one year anniversary!!  This year has gone by SO FAST!!  Where has it gone??  I can honestly say this year has been the best ever.  I love being with my very best friend every day!  What more could I ask for?!

Blogging

So apparently I need to get better at this whole blogging thing.  I have not kept up with it AT ALL!!  Who knows if anyone even reads it anymore since I started slipping around April.  Haha.

Lately our life hasn't been too exciting.  We're getting very settled into this marriage stuff.  We did have another fabulous weekend.  We had two birthday dinners in a row.  My mom and Clay's mom.  Saturday we went to the OU game and Sunday I helped out my wedding photographer (Jennifer Klotz) at a bridal fair.

We'll see what this week and next weekend bring us!!  :)

And I'll be thinking of more to blog about...

A Run to Remember!

I never thought getting up at 5am would be worth it.  Today it was!  Kelsey and I did the 5K walk and Clay did the marathon relay.  It is such a wonderful way to remember people that were taken from us in such a horrific way.  The path of the marathon is lined with a banner for each person who died in the Murrah bombing.  It's an amazing experience!!

Random Things

Last weekend for Mackenzie's birthday Tad took Mackenzie to Pole Position....Clay and I tagged along.  It was pretty interesting to say the least.  Apparently it's a pretty popular place...we ended up playing video games for an hour before it was our turn.  Clay, Tad, and myself were in a race together.  Tad finished 3rd, Clay 5th and me...well I came in last, 11th to be exact...Hey!  Someone has to right?!  Mackenzie got to race with other kids her age....she came in 2nd!  I should've been in her race!  We all had a blast...after we went to Freddy's Frozen Custard...YUM!!!

On another note....my cousin, Jennifer Jacobson, had a kidney transplant today.  It turned out her best friend from grade school decided to go through all the testing and ended up being a PERFECT MATCH!!  It really made me think...would I have the guts to do that for a family member or friend??  That really takes a strong person to decide they want to give up one of their kidneys for a friend.  It takes courage to save another person's life.  As soon as Jennifer received Mel's kidney it was functioning good as new.  They will both be in the hospital for 5 days at UCLA Med. Center.  Keep them in your prayers!!!

Peyton's Soccer Game

Peyton pretty much dominated!!!  She scored three goals...the only goals her team had!  It was so much fun watching the Pixie Chicks.

Welcome!!

I thought this would be a fun way to keep in touch with everyone. Or at least let everyone see what we are up to. We are in the midst of our new journey called Married Life and we thought we would let you take a peak inside.
We have now been married for 3 months....jeez it's gone by extremely fast! We literally hit the ground running too! We went to St. John for 7 days, came home just in time to celebrate our first married Christmas. Then we turn around and it's New Year's Eve and Clay's birthday. Next thing you know Clay and I are leaving for Las Vegas for the World of Concrete 2008! In February throw in a couple Bachelor and Bachelorette parties and Valentine's Day. In March we went to 2 weddings (one in Dallas and one in OKC) then celebrated multiple birthdays!! Including my own! Which I think was a milestone birthday even if no one else thinks so...hey...25 is big! OH...and I almost forgot Easter....Easter in March...who knew?!
On top of all of that we're adjusting to me moving into "his" house!! Which has been interesting to say the very least! We're having a good time though...lots of laughs! Clay is slowly learning where to put wet towels, dirty clothes go in the hamper, etc. As for me...I'm just doing all the teaching... :) Eventually when we get a dining room table we will be having everyone over to see Casa de Holmboe.
